Contact Us

This page last updated 7 January 2018

Please note that we are unable to provide advice on mental health issues: for advice or assistance please contact one of the major mental health charities such as Mind, Rethink or Sane. More links may be found in the sidebar under ‘Emergency Help‘.

Please also note that all grants are made subject to available funds, which are now running very low: if you apply for help and your application is approved but we do not have sufficient funds available at that time, we will place you on a waiting list for help as soon as funds are available. Another organisation that you may wish to apply to is a charity set up by the Archbishop of York, Acts 435, which channels requests for help through local churches.

GOT QUESTIONS? Want information or thinking of applying for our help? Something you’d like to say but not in a public comment? Please get in touch: we’d love to hear from you.

If you have a mental health difficulty, please include brief details in your message; and if you wish to apply for help, please tell us what evidence you have to support your application (such as a GP or mental health caseworker’s letter regarding your mental health problems and DWP correspondence confirming loss or impending loss of benefits). Here’s why that matters: Decisions, decisions: how we make them (and how you can make them easier for us).

We will aim to reply within two or three days, if not sooner, but please remember that 5 Quid for Life is a voluntary organisation, so sometimes replies may take a little longer. To make sure that our reply reaches you,  please ensure that any spam filters on your email are set to allow incoming messages from 5quidforlife.org.uk addresses; and if you  haven’t seen a reply from us within a week, please check your “junk” or “spam” folder: that’s where it might be…

Important Note | Eligibility Criteria | Our Decisions and How We Make Them
Any money that you may receive from 5 Quid for Life is a gift. Please note, however, that you may be required to declare it when claiming benefits in the future and that this may affect your benefits entitlement.
